Laurent Güdel is an electronic musician, a sound artist and sonic activist. He explores the politics of sound, critical listening, and the history of audio infrastructure, technologies, and institutions. He feeds back his combination of field research, sonic ethnography, electroacoustic composition, phonography, and exploration of rare sound archives into multi-channel electro-acoustic compositions, live performances, installations, movies without images, audio publications, text and prints. His practice is transdisciplinary and his methods are experimental.

He has collaborated with Olga Kokcharova, Francisco Meirino, Aladin Borioli, Anna-Maria Rammou, and Tim Shaw. His career has led him to perform, research and/or exhibit at LUFF in Lausanne, Cave 12 in Geneva, Q-02 in Brussels, Elektronmusikstudion in Stockholm, the Computer Music Centre at Columbia University in New York, Elektronski Studio of Radio Belgrade, KSYME in Athens, Institute for Psychoacoustics and Electronic Music (IPEM) in Belgium and Willem Twee Studios in Den Bosch in the Netherlands, HeK (House of electronic Arts) in Basel, Documenta 14 in Kassel, Carreau du Temple in Paris, CIRA (International Center for Research on Anarchism) in Lausanne.

In september he inaugurated Community Echo, a permanent sound installation and «art in architecture» proposition installed in the center of Zurich, in collaboration with Michal Florence Schorro, Giona Bierens de Haan and Raphael Raccuia.

His music and recordings has been (or will soon be) released by Penultimate Press (UK), Subjam (China), The Tapeworms (UK), un poco fría (USA), and ActiveRat, Copypasta, or Vandalizm (CH) Together with Lionel Gafner, he co-curates Kopfhörer and Arrière-Garde, two series dedicated to experimental sound practices, improvised music, and sound art in his city of Biel (Switzerland).
